In conditions of tightening environmental requirements and growing demand for easily recyclable materials, basalt fiber products stand out for their environmental friendliness and durability. Basalt fiber is especially relevant for the railroad industry, where its use in the production of railcars can significantly reduce the weight of the structure, which leads to fuel savings and increases the carrying capacity of locomotives. This makes products based on basalt fiber not only more efficient, but also economically viable.
In addition, BNV possessing unique properties (high thermal and chemical resistance, wear resistance, not afraid of ultraviolet, temperature differences, stray currents, alkaline environment, expansion coefficient, light weight, relatively low competitive cost) is also widely used in such industries as construction, automotive, chemical industry, aircraft industry, etc.
Trade balance
Kazakhstan does not import or export basalt fiber. The world leaders in import are USA (216.9 thousand tons), India (128.1 thousand tons), Japan (117.1 thousand tons), Russia (92.3 thousand tons), South Korea (51.7 thousand tons). The world leaders in exports are China (485.5 thousand tons), Germany (111.6 thousand tons), USA (103.4 thousand tons), Spain (82.6 thousand tons), India (54.9 thousand tons).
Balance of production and consumption
There is no production and consumption in Kazakhstan. However, the global demand for BNV in 2022 was 300 thousand tons/year, and by 2025 is projected to be 520 thousand tons/year.
